You get your Little Red Notebook a little bit early this week. I couldn’t send it on Friday morning as usual, because Friday morning will be very unusual, and better spent watching videos of Jacob Rees-Mogg on stage staring at his feet while the Returning Officer announces how many votes he has or hasn’t got.
Yes, I have visualised this moment many times.
Instead, I give you my plans for election night, which, as you know, I have been manifesting for over a year. I have a full list of estimated declaration times. I have read copious guides to which seats to keep eyes on. I have drinks (cocktails, beer, tea, coffee), I have snacks (Twiglets, popcorn, olives, crackers, cheese, Tony’s Chocolonely). I even have election Sunak Sambas, courtesy of Sky News (Sky Shoes). Red is left, blue is right.
All that remains is for me to give you my election night political party playlist. The full thing is here on Spotify - but the list below gives full hyperlinked context.
The links are worth a read, though, just to marvel at what a silly six weeks this has been.
Why Does it Always Rain on Me? - Travis
The Gambler - Kenny Rogers
If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next - Manic Street Preachers
You’re History - Shakespears Sister
California (Here We Come) - Phantom Planet

The Power - Snap
Useful Idiot - Tool
Love Rollercoaster - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Let me know what I’m missing in the comments/email replies. I’ll add the best suggestions to the Spotify playlist. We still have time to keep updating it - I’m going to be up late…
Normal service will resume in two weeks’ time, when the next Little Red Notebook will be delivered to you, as usual, on a Friday morning. Hangover permitting.
